STAC8 _ what’s left?
The Eighth International Conference on Science and Technology in Archaeology and Conservation (STAC8) reached an end in Amman on May 25th.
Five intense days signed by presentations and debate between seasoned experts and a new generation of professionals variously engaged in the multidisciplinary Cosmo working at the study, documentation, conservation, promotion and protection of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The various nature of works presented gave plenty of suggestions for further developments on a variety of topics at the STAC8.
Fresh and, at times exiting suggestions given by some of the younger participants contributed to develop some creative ideas that could prelude to innovative research and applications. This especially in the areas of science and technology applied to cultural heritage conservation and monitoring as well as in the promotion of awareness and appropriation of cultural heritage.
Recommendations issued at the end of the conference have been purposely restricted to a few hot issues emerged during a final discussion. The participants preferred to highlight issues considered real priorities that need to be addressed at the earliest. These are condensed within the Amman Declaration now available online.
