ICCROM XXIX General Assembly. 18.11.2015 Rome, Italy
Nov 19th, 2015 In : News By : admin 0 Comments

ICCROM Genassemblea_iccromeral Assembly was inaugurated today with an intense agenda of topics which started observing a minute of silence to pay respect to the victims of the terrorist attack in Paris on Friday November 13.

A key note speech was delivered by UNISDR representative posing the accent on the increased attention paid by the organisation to cultural and natural heritage within its broader institutional portfolio. From the presentation it resulted clear that a template approach to be replicated by default to set risk preparedness and response to protect cultural heritage exposed to major events is unlikely to be possible and it should be rather considered an approach that is better customised on the needs of each reality addressed especially taking into account the level of cultural heritage disaster resilience that each country expects to achieve.

Our association is a no-profit, neutral, global network of Cultural Heritage volunteer stakeholders and experts worldwide who joined with the main objectives to contribute to the safeguarding of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage and to develop an early detection system against the risks of destruction, vandalism, illicit trade, looting, pillaging before, during and after conflict. In other words, we try to contribute to foster the safeguarding of cultural Heritage according to the criteria set by the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict.
